Honeywell to Split into Three Independent Companies

Image: BLOOMBERG
Honeywell has announced plans to divide into three separate companies, following a trend among major U.S. conglomerates like General Electric and Alcoa. The split will see the company separate its automation, aerospace, and advanced materials divisions, aiming to create more agile, industry-focused entities. CEO Vimal Kapur stated that this move will allow each business to pursue tailored growth strategies and unlock greater value for shareholders. The decision comes amid shareholder pressure and follows Elliott Investment Management’s push for restructuring after acquiring a significant stake in Honeywell. The spinoffs are expected to be completed by late 2026, reflecting a broader shift in corporate strategy away from sprawling conglomerates toward more specialized, independently operated companies.
Ford CEO Calls for Comprehensive Tariff Policy on Auto Imports
Ford CEO Jim Farley is urging the U.S. government to take a broad approach to tariffs in the automotive industry rather than targeting select countries. Speaking on Ford’s earnings call, Farley criticized the proposed 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico while automakers like Toyota and Hyundai continue importing hundreds of thousands of vehicles from Japan and South Korea with little to no duties. He warned that selectively imposing tariffs would give foreign competitors an unfair advantage. The remarks come amid ongoing trade negotiations and recent tariff increases on Chinese goods. With nearly half of all vehicles sold in the U.S. produced abroad, Farley’s comments highlight the growing tensions over trade policies affecting the auto industry.
