Airbus to Record Nearly One Billion Dollar Charge Due to Satellite Program Issues
Airbus will take a charge of approximately $965 million due to poor cost and schedule performance on various satellite programs and will explore strategic options for its space business. The company revised its 2024 guidance following technical reviews that identified significant challenges in its Space Systems division. These issues, primarily affecting telecommunications and navigation satellite projects, led to a 900 million euro charge in the second quarter. The evaluation revealed difficulties with supplier performance, technology risks, and workload management. Airbus is now adopting a more selective approach to future bids and is considering restructuring or mergers and acquisitions for its space unit. The company aims to address these challenges but acknowledges that the process will be time-consuming and challenging.
Chipotle’s Historic 50-for-1 Stock Split Set to Begin Trading
Chipotle Mexican Grill is set to execute a highly anticipated 50-for-1 stock split, one of the largest in the history of the New York Stock Exchange. Shareholders as of the close of trading on Tuesday will receive additional shares, with the new shares beginning to trade on Wednesday. Based on Monday's closing price of $3,193.74, the stock would adjust to $63.86 per share. This move aims to make Chipotle's stock more accessible to a broader range of investors and provide employees with more flexibility in managing their shares. The company, which has seen its stock rise over 57% in the past year, will release its next quarterly financial results on July 26.
