Walgreens Plans to Close 1,200 Stores

Walgreens Boots Alliance announced plans to close 1,200 stores over the next three years as new CEO Tim Wentworth works to revitalize the struggling pharmacy chain. Despite beating Wall Street’s reduced profit estimates for the fourth quarter, the company faces challenges such as low drug reimbursement rates and weaker consumer spending, which have driven its stock to near 30-year lows. Wentworth has initiated cost-cutting measures, including executive changes and a $1 billion savings plan, as part of a long-term strategy to improve financial performance and consumer satisfaction.

Boeing Seeks $25 Billion to Stabilize Finances Amid Production Crisis

Boeing announced plans to raise up to $25 billion through stock and debt offerings, along with securing a $10 billion credit agreement, as it faces a production slump and regulatory issues. The aerospace giant is dealing with the fallout from a mid-air panel blowout on its 737 MAX and a costly union strike, which has hindered its operations. Boeing has not yet drawn on the new credit facility, but analysts suggest it may need to raise $10-15 billion to maintain its credit ratings. The funds will be used for general corporate purposes as Boeing navigates significant financial challenges.
