Walmart Eyes Acquisition to Strengthen Marketplace Safety

Walmart is reportedly in discussions to acquire R&A Data, an AI-driven startup founded by two former Israeli intelligence specialists that focuses on detecting counterfeits and compliance issues in online marketplaces. The retailer has already been using R&A Data’s technology to screen its rapidly expanding third-party marketplace, a crucial growth engine that helped fuel a 25% jump in U.S. e-commerce last quarter. As Walmart prepares for a leadership transition to incoming CEO John Furner, the potential deal signals a push to tighten marketplace oversight after a recent investigation revealed significant lapses in seller vetting and counterfeit product controls. R&A Data’s tools could enhance Walmart’s ability to monitor hundreds of millions of listings in real time, reinforcing its public stance that trust and safety are top priorities.
JetBlue Expands European Reach with New Boston Routes

JetBlue is continuing its push into trans-Atlantic travel by adding daily seasonal flights from Boston to Milan and Barcelona beginning next spring, aiming to attract more premium leisure travelers. The new Barcelona route launches April 16, followed by Milan on May 11, both operated with the airline’s long-range Airbus A321LR jets—aircraft designed to fly farther while carrying fewer passengers and lower operating costs than wide-body planes. As U.S. carriers race to add high-fare international destinations, JetBlue is reshaping its route network by trimming underperforming flights and leaning heavily on routes that feature its Mint business-class cabin. These additions mark the latest phase of JetBlue’s expanding European footprint, which began with its 2021 London launch and now includes Paris, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, and Dublin.
