Paramount Orders Full Office Return in 2026

Fresh off Skydance’s takeover, David Ellison is wasting no time reshaping Paramount. Starting January 2026, staffers in LA and New York will be required back at their desks five days a week or they can take a buyout. The move is framed as a push for creativity and agility, but it also conveniently trims headcount ahead of thousands of expected layoffs. With $2 billion in cuts on the horizon, Ellison is betting that bringing everyone under one roof will streamline operations and position Paramount for the next phase of its turnaround.
Google Ordered to Pay $425.7 Million in Privacy Case

A federal jury in San Francisco has ruled that Google must pay $425.7 million for violating user privacy by collecting data from roughly 98 million people who had turned off a tracking feature between 2016 and 2024. Jurors found that the company illegally monitored users despite privacy settings, breaching California law. Google disputes the decision, arguing that the data was nonpersonal and protected, and says it will appeal. The case is part of a broader wave of privacy challenges facing the tech giant, which has already paid billions in settlements and agreed to destroy large troves of user data in other lawsuits.
