Starbucks Workers Authorize Major Strike Ahead of Red Cup Day

Starbucks Workers United has voted overwhelmingly to authorize an open-ended strike that could begin on Red Cup Day (Nov. 13), one of Starbucks’ biggest annual promotions. The union, representing roughly 12,000 employees across more than 650 stores, is demanding better wages, improved scheduling, and the resolution of ongoing labor disputes. If no agreement is reached, workers in over 25 cities plan to walk out, potentially disrupting Starbucks’ critical holiday season. Starbucks says it’s ready to keep stores operating and remains open to negotiations, emphasizing that it already offers competitive pay and benefits. The strike threat comes as the company pursues a major turnaround plan under CEO Brian Niccol, following a $1 billion restructuring effort and early signs of sales recovery.
Longest U.S. Government Shutdown Hits Air Travel Hard

The U.S. government shutdown has stretched into its 36th day, marking the longest in history and causing major strain across the travel sector. With 13,000 air traffic controllers and 50,000 TSA officers working without pay, staffing shortages are creating mounting pressure on the nation’s airspace system. Nearly half of the 30 busiest airports are facing reduced staffing, leading to over 6,200 flight delays and 500 cancellations. Union leaders have warned that if the situation worsens, parts of U.S. airspace could be forced to close. The ongoing disruption is hitting travelers during a busy season, as aviation workers continue showing up despite severe financial hardship.

Tip of the Day
Document your process the first time you do it.
Every time you do something in your business, send an email, onboard a client, post a campaign, jot down the steps. That one quick habit turns daily tasks into repeatable systems. It’s how you stop re-explaining, start delegating, and eventually build a business that runs without you.
